I was always wondering how to make bass like this:
or:
I know that 2nd guy using Spectrasonics Trilogy vst for bass, but I don't know how to mix it so fat. Any suggestions? I know it's not hard, because he told me that. It's about 4 vst's to use to sound like this. I will be very happy, if someone can help me fix it. And Isso your tutorials are great, they help me a lot in making hip hop beats, they're still not great but I'm working, it's hard to do something without any studio monitors. Thanks very much.

Those tracks are hot, even if I can't understand the language lol! I can feel the track though no doubt.

If you want to fatten up your bass lines and don't have studio monitors or a sub to help, I would recommend getting some stereo headphones with decent bass response. These will help you decipher how your bass sounds. Also, compare your bass to other songs that you like, side by side, for example, listen to one track and then listen to the bass in your track to measure how it sounds and adjust from there.

I recommend applying some equalizing to your bass and your kick. There are some good tutorials on youtube about this if you search for them. Bass is obviously at a lower frequency than the kick (most of the time in hip-hop), usually between 60-100 hertz or so, depending on the type of bass. Remember, whatever frequency you boost or cut in the bass, try boosting or cutting that frequency in the kick, so they even out a little bit, but you need to find the sweet spot. If you boost 1.5 decibels at 65 hertz on the bass, try cutting 1.5 decibels at 65 hertz on the kick, and then find the sweet spot for the kick where the frequency stands out the most. THis is why monitors help out so much when it comes to bass. I'm no pro at mixing, these are just some techniques I've picked up over the years. Another tip is to look into side chaining for your kick and bass, as it makes the kick stand out a bit more on the initial pound of the bass. There are several ways to go about that.

The sub basses on those tracks seem pretty low frequency to me, so I would try applying some boost around 60-100 hertz frequency area for a start. You could apply a limiter with a high threshold or find a bass boost plugin and a compressor. There are a lot of ways to go about it. I usually cut the highs out completely from my sub basses, roll it off around 300-1000 hertz, depending on the bass. If you havent already, please check out the equalizing guide i have here on this web site for free download!
